ICE-CREAM SAUCES

ELEVATE YOUR SCOOPS WITH THESE IRRESISTIBLE SAUCES 


 These are my go to sauces for ice cream. Although each of my kids and husband has different taste buds on most sweet treats they all agree the following ones stand out. 

MARSHMALLOW MELT

INGREDIENTS 

90g marshmallows

30ml milk or cream

Pinch nutmeg

METHOD 

Melt marshmallows with milk on medium low,half way add the nutmeg and stir until smooth.

Serve immediately on vanilla ice-cream


CHOCOLATE TOFFEE SAUCE 

INGREDIENTS 

2 mars bars or any chic toffee bars

Chopped nuts


METHOD 

Melt chocolate toffee bars on low heat.

Pour over vanilla ice cream and top with the nuts

This is great when you are a bit tired to stand by the stove for long to make any other sauce.


NUTTY BUTTERSCOTCH SAUCE 

INGREDIENTS 

6TBsp butter

¾ soft brown sugar

¾ cup unsweetened condensed milk

½ cup hazelnuts


METHOD 

Melt butter and sugar on medium low heat and let it boil for 2 minutes,remove and let cool for 5 minutes.

On low heat, heat the condensed milk and then add the sugar mix slowly,cook for 2 minutes

Spread nuts on a baking sheet and roast in an oven,then turn them over on a dish towel and rub to remove all the skins. Chop up the nuts roughly and stir into the sauce

Serve over chocolate,vanilla or butterscotch ice-cream.
